But your iniquities have separated you from your God;
And your sins have hidden His face from you,
So that He will not hear.

Isaiah 59:2 (NKJV)

It can be very frustrating when believers pray, but feel like God is not listening to them. Sometimes when that happens, there is sin they have committed that needs to be confessed to God. Sin that hangs over us can also block the healing of emotional and spiritual pain. It destroys our joy. It is difficult to be joyful when we have disobeyed the Lord in some way.

Sin that has not been confessed—and discontinued—can be a blockage to receiving healing for our broken hearts. Jesus came, died, and rose again so that we could be forgiven for our sins. However, ignoring sin that we have committed definitely affects our relationship with our heavenly Father.

The good news is that you can rectify this situation. If you have already sincerely asked Jesus to be your Lord and Savior, confess known sin to God and ask Him to forgive you in Jesus’ name. If you have not yet taken the step of receiving the free gift of salvation through Jesus Christ, do that first. Then, you have the privilege of being forgiven by God and can talk to Him about anything that troubles you, including your broken heart. Let Him begin the healing you need as you surrender your life—with all its pain and trauma—to His loving care.
