PSALM 1:1

Blessed [fortunate, prosperous, and favored by God] is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked [following their advice and example],
Nor stand in the path of sinners,
Nor sit [down to rest] in the seat of scoffers (ridiculers).

Psalm 1:1 (AMP)

Suggested reading: Psalm 1:1-6

We all want the Lord to bless us. We want to be fortunate, prosperous, and favored by God. His Word says that in order for us to receive His blessings we must delight in and obey the Lord’s instructions. We should never follow the advice or example of the wicked, but only follow the counsel and example of godly people. Taking part in ungodly activities is not the way to receive blessings from the Most High God. In order to receive His blessings, we must do our best to live according to God’s teachings in the Bible.

The Lord’s blessings include the healing of inner emotional and spiritual pain from traumatic events. Our merciful Father sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to help us receive that healing. Once we have sincerely accepted Jesus as our Lord and Savior, we can begin the healing journey. However, we must follow the Lord’s teachings and not be in agreement with the kingdom of darkness by continuing in known sin.

Out of desperation, and sometimes ignorance, brokenhearted people may pursue healing techniques that do not line up with the Word of God. Followers of Jesus Christ should strive to obtain emotional and spiritual healing only through biblically based ministry and prayer. Other ungodly methods may result in imitation and temporary healing, but they also result in bondage to the source of that healing. Jesus’ followers will be blessed—and their broken hearts will be genuinely healed—as they pursue the Lord’s plan and godly healing ministry.
